The end of July
My body has finally made progress with the Fire Coral. The swelling has stopped, now my body just itches. I lost the cream. I ‘m pretty sure McFlurry has hidden it somewhere…aka shithead. He’s so freaking cute even though he is constantly messing with my stuff. Today he fell asleep like a baby in my arms and once he woke up we played tag around the apartment. He’s currently...

7/29 and 7/30
So I skipped Sunday from class. I caught up on ROTC things and went to the gym during the day. The fire coral worsened and began to spread down my legs. It burned and itched like crazy! We went to Mwal to eat one more time. It’s so good, the pita bread tastes like a pancake. I’ve avoided bread for the past couple of months, but it was def worth it. When we got back, our electricity was...
Aqaba
This weekend we went to Aqaba. It was gorgeous! You could see Egypt across from the Red Sea and Israel. It’s crazy to think that Egypt is not only another country but it’s located on a different continent. Aqaba is really hot, it feels like you are in a oven. The taxi driver ripped us off taking us to the Hostel, I called him a thief and told my friends not to give him the full amount...
July 26th Class
I had a test in my class. It was oral of course! So much fun, he just asks us random questions and then he goes on tantrums. I’m pretty sure he only cracks up at his own jokes. It’s pretty entertaining, I just stare outside at the street..waiting for another car crash. It happens so frequent.
The day before I ran 10 miles on treadmill..this is reminder that I need to buy joint...
July 24th
Jordan and I went to a party of a girl who Jordan went to high school with. Def crazy that she ran into her in Jordan. The apartment was next to Doors Cafe and Gloria Jeans. The people there were very interesting. A lot of them were also in Aries (the girls apt) class at University of Jordan. This girl there went to a women’s gathering of Arab women. I def wish we could experience that. It...
Our Savior
Last night Jordan, Amanda, and I met up with Muhanan for dinner. We met at the Balad at 9pm, he was actually relatively on time. Then we tried a couple of restaurants but a lot of them were closed. i guess they are only open during the break of the fast. Pretty crazy. We finally found a restaurant still open, all the workers were eating also and giving Muhanan crap. They were jealous to have three...
Baptism of Jesus
Today was def an adventure. It started with Jordan, Amanda, and myself trying to rent a car. We were waiting for Monte Carlo to open..aka when an Arab says he’ll be there it means an hour later. If he says en shala that means maybe two hours later. As we were waiting this guy named Muhammad sat next to us and talked our ears off. He ended up taking a cab with us to check out a different car...
Running Trail
This week Jordan and I have been constantly mistaken as Italian. They literally speak Italian to us. I mean its def better than Russian and I am Italian but I didn’t just get off the ship from Italy. The real question is why do Arabs know Italian? It’s the small things in life.
This week we found the outside track. It was behind the gym. We went at night so we wouldn’t cause...
Tequila Tuesdays
So on Tuesday I had my midterm. I studied 8 hours on Monday and woke up at 5am on Tuesday to study more before my class started. The first two hours of class we spent learning a new topic then took the disgusting test the next 2 hours. Okay the test wasn’t that bad, but it took forever and I was so ready to be done with it.
Chandler was talking about going to this place that had $1 Tequila...
July 13th
Today I turned 22! I know I’m old as shit! I had to wake up early because we were taking a trip to Jeresh. We all tried to sleep on the bus but one of the teachers decided to dance and sing. I think I might throw something at him the next time he goes on a trip.
Jeresh was really cool, it was the city where the Greeks first ruled then the Romans. Caesar and Alexander the Great both ruled...
July 12
On thursday I had a test in my second part of class. It lasted for 2 hours, and it was orally. I did okay, the girl who was I was paired to annoys everyone so it took the attention away from me.
After class we went to the gym, the supervisor of the gym is the biggest guido ever. He is def top heavy and wears short shorts. He’ll do a set and then stare at himself in the mirror. He came over...
Over the Weekend
On Thursday, July 5th we went to G Club. It was very American, the Dj played American music and was from Louisiana. The girls were dressed in very short dresses and high heels. Everyone in my group wore conservative clothes. I wore pants and a 3/4 shirt with sandals. I couldn’t help but think sluts, and it was funny to see the roles reverse. The stereotype of American women are that they are...
July 4
So today is the fourth of July, which apparently our teachers really don’t care or understand how important it is to us. Tomorrow I have an oral quiz and presentation due. This should be interesting. Lately, I understand whats going on in class which makes my day. The hard part is speaking and listening. Sometimes the words sounds incredibly different than how I would pronounce it.
Today...
Wadi Rum
After exploring Petra we loaded back onto the bus to Wadi Rum. Once we got there we loaded our stuff onto Jeeps that were from the 1960s. The jeeps rode off the main road through Wadi Rum to our camp where we watched the sunset.
Then we had dinner at the bedouin camp. The tea was amazing! Quenny and I talked to the bedouins. They were extremely nice and had also learned english from the tourist....
Petra
On Thursday around 5pm, we all gathered up and loaded up on the buses. Then, left for Petra which was about a 4 hour drive. We arrived to the 4 star hotel around 9pm. The hotel was so nice. The beds were extremely comfortable, we all thought about staying for the rest of our trip! We ate at a buffet in the hotel and then went swimming in the pool on the roof. It was nice to leave Amman.
The next...

Gym
I joined a gym! For the past couple of weeks I have going to the gym after class! It’s really nice! We are limited to the amount of water we can use throughout the week. So the biggest motivation to go to the gym is the shower. The showers are hot and have great water pressure, unlike our apartment’s shower.
The gym has been my way to release stress and frustration…also to...
Russian Prostitutes
Jordan is a very modern Arabic country, so the Saudis come to Jordan during the summer to do their fantasy..sexual adventures. Well for the past couple of weeks, Russian prostitutes have been found leaving our apartment building. So why bring this up?… Well the Russian prostitutes have long blonde hair and light skin. Does this sound familiar?
Yup, for the past week I have been accused and...
Going out/Dead Sea Weekend
Last Thursday, a group of us bought some liquor and drank in our apartments. Its very expensive here. I’m pretty sure the owner of the liquor store thinks I’m an alcoholic after our many trips for wine. The Jordanian wine is actually pretty good. Afterwards we went to a bar on rainbow street. Rainbow street is a more liberal place where there are more Christians than Muslims. You will...
School
School’s not that bad. I have class from 8-12. It’s about a ten-minute walk from my apartment to the school. I forgot quite a bit of Arabic, so I’m currently recapping and learning new things. I like both my teachers. My first teacher is Huda she just graduated from college! She is hilarious and forces us to talk, she teaches for two hours and then Omar teaches for 2 hours. There are 8 students...
Welcome ماحابا
The first week was spent exploring since we didn’t have class until that following Wed. We went to a historic castle, it was a lot of fun. However, it was very hot, it was cool in the castle but miserable once you left.
My whole floor is basically ROTC students. Everyone has been expressing which branch is superior to the others. AF of course.
My friend and I started working out on the...
Prior to Jordan
Before coming to Jordan I was never really nervous. My only concern was where to go once I arrived. My plane arrived around midnight. As I was waiting for my bag, I saw the whitest kid and knew he was studying abroad. I was correct, we bonded quickly aka his name is Mike. Luckily there was a guy waiting from Qasid, the program I am participating in. We were shuffled into a taxi with 2 other...
